Brazoria County reported 341 COVID-19 cases Dec. 15, the first time the county has ever reported 300 or more cases. The county reported daily case counts over 300 on Dec. 16 and 18, according to data from Brazoria County.

The city of Pearland has 1,087 active cases as of Dec. 22, the highest in the county, which has 3,162 cases total. The majority of the active cases are in the 30-39 age bracket.

The number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in general hospital beds in Brazoria County has started to rise slowly since Dec. 15, according to data from the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council. The number of patients reported daily from Dec. 15-21 ranged from 37 to 48. The county has 425 operational general use beds and a surge of 510 beds.

While the number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients in intensive care units in Brazoria County was 16 on Dec. 15, the number has fallen since, according to SETRAC data. The highest number of COVID-19 patients reported in ICUs this past week was 17 on Dec. 16. The lowest number was 12 on Dec. 17 and 20. The county has 40 operational ICU beds and a surge of 49 beds.
