Pearland Mayor Tom Reid signed an order in favor of slowly reopening nonessential retail services, echoing Gov. Greg Abbott’s statewide order. The order went into effect at 12:01 a.m. April 24 and remains in effect until April 30 at 11:59 p.m.

Pearland’s order allows nonessential retail businesses to sell goods by mail, pickup or curbside services. According to a press release sent out by the city of Pearland, patrons must pay for goods over the phone or online and are unable to enter the store.

Store employees must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms, practice social distancing, wash or sanitize hands after interactions with customers, and wear masks, according to the release.
