Donations from the 15th annual Pear Run will go to a new command center for the Pearland Police Department, Pear Run co-race chair Cindy Bilyeu said.

The Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, the organization hosting the Pear Run, has already raised $30,000 for a new command center. They will be donating $50,000 in total and hope to raise the remaining $20,000 with this year's Pear Run.

"The police are near and dear to our heart and getting them the things they need is the most important thing to us," Bilyeu said.

The Pear Run will be start at 7 a.m. on May 11 at the Pearland Town Center. Participants can register up until the start of the race. There will be a 5K and a 10K run, a 5K walk and a fun run for kids. The race will take place in the Pearland Town Center, with the 10K race partially winding into Shadow Creek Ranch. Registration prices vary from $15-$40. Participants who register early will receive a t-shirt and children will receive a medal.

"We want people to know that if you register for the Pear Run, you are helping out your own community," Bilyeu said.
