The National Weather Service projected very low wind chills Dec. 22 and 23 at or below zero degrees Fahrenheit.
The warnings lead to the city of Pearland to release freezing weather tips, including how to winterize backflow and shut off water supply.
Some of the tips the city published include a recommendation to be aware of road conditions, which can be very dangerous in freezing temperatures, and to monitor interactive maps for road conditions before driving during extreme weather. Additionally, the city states that electrical providers can be impacted by increased heater usage and ice, snow and sleet weighing down power lines. Power outages can be tracked with the CenterPoint Outage Tracker.
The city recommends residents sign up for E-Alerts or follow the city on Twitter or Facebook for weather updates.
