The U.S. Census Bureau released its 2021 American Community Survey data results, which offer insight into a variety of topics in communities around the country, including population, income and employment. Here is a look at how the Galveston County community has changed over the past five years.


According to the 2021 ACS results, Galveston County saw a 7.78% increase in population from 2016-21, higher than the five-year state population increase of 5.98%.


Galveston County saw a larger increase in median income than the state from 2016-21 at a 20.63% increase, while Texas saw an increase of 18.38%.


Unemployment rates have decreased since 2016 in Galveston County while increasing slightly at the state level.
