Arts- and culture-centered nonprofits in Pearland could soon get financial aid from the city.

The Pearland Convention and Visitors Bureau in an Aug. 2 news release announced the application for the Pearland Cultural Arts Grant for fiscal year 2022-23 is now open through Sept. 26. Funding is limited to $6,000 maximum per application for organizations that qualify.

“The Pearland Cultural Arts program has a long history of supporting local arts initiatives in the city,” Pearland CVB Executive Director Tracy Rohrbacher said. “The program complements our work at the CVB in attracting visitors to Pearland.”

The application is open for Pearland-based arts and culture nonprofits, according to the release. The grants will be awarded in early November. The purpose of the grant is to help fund nonprofit programming during FY 2022-23, which runs from Oct. 1, 2022-Sept. 30, 2023.

The program is managed by the CVB. The funding for the grant comes from hotel occupancy tax collections for projects that support cultural arts efforts in Pearland. Previous grant-supported programs include the Puranava Indian Culture Festival, Pearland Arts League programming and Pearland House Concerts, according to the release.
