Residents of Brazoria County will now have access to an active count of monkeypox cases within the county.

Brazoria County on July 26 launched a monkeypox case count dashboard that keeps track of the number of active monkeypox cases in the county.

The county reported its first case of monkeypox on July 25 in northern Brazoria County. On July 26, the county reported an additional case to bring the active case count to two within county limits.

As of July 25, there have been a cumulative 47 cases in the city of Houston and 10 cases in unincorporated Harris County, Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo said during a July 25 news conference.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 220 cases in Texas and 3,487 in the United States as of July 25, according to its dashboard.


The Texas Department of State Health Services received and is distributing 14,780 doses of Jynneos, the monkeypox vaccine, throughout the state, according to a July 25 news release.
