Friendswood and the rest of Coastal Galveston County are under a flash flood watch from 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, as the effects of Tropical Storm Imelda move through.

According to the National Weather Service, 5-10 inches of rainfall can be expected, with 10-15 inches in isolated areas.

"Staff in the city's Office of Emergency Management are closely monitoring the National Weather Service-Houston/Galveston Office detailed forecasts," Friendswood city officials said via email. "As part of their usual preparedness, they are currently distributing summaries and updates to city staff, creating a heightened awareness."
