The deadline for voter registration, property tax protests and paying property taxes is fast approaching for Galveston County residents in April and May, Galveston County tax assessor and collector Cheryl E. Johnson said in a press release. Here are important dates for Galveston County residents to know: April 1: Deadline for the second installment of 2018 property taxes for seniors, disabled persons, disabled vets, surviving spouses of disabled vets and taxpayers using disaster installments. April 4: Last day to register to vote or update an address for May 4 local elections. April 30: Effectively Protest Value Class, 6 p.m., League City Council Chambers, 200 West Walker, League City. May 15: Deadline to call to schedule protest meeting, mail protest form or file an online protest at the county appraisal district. According to the press release, voter registration applications are available online at the Galveston County website under the voter registration tab. Those with questions can call the Voter Registration Department toll free at 888-976-2280 to receive an application by mail or email. Tax payments for Friendswood residents may be mailed to the Galveston County Tax Office or dropped off at Friendswood City hall. Tax payments can also be made online Galveston County website.
