Friendswood City Council approved an agreement Feb. 4 with Galveston County to allow the county to administer the Friendswood city elections, starting with the May 4 council election. The city has facilitated its own elections for 13 years. However, the election equipment is aging and allowing the county to handle elections is more cost-effective than replacing the equipment, city secretary Melinda Welsh said. “In electronic years, 13 years is pretty old,” Welsh said. Both Harris and Galveston county registered voters will be able to cast a ballot at city hall or any Galveston County polling location.
