1. Pearland City Council makes up skipped meeting

The Pearland City Council will meet at 6:30 Monday, Jan. 22 at the Public Safety Building, 2555 Cullen Parkway. The meeting was originally set for Jan. 16 but was rescheduled because of the weather.

2. Provide input on Friendswood's downtown improvements

The Friendswood Downtown Economic Development Corporation Board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23. The agenda includes time for public comments on how to use new sales tax revenue for downtown improvements.

3. Pearland ISD school board holds performance report hearing

A public hearing for the 2016–17 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) will be part of Tuesday's Pearland ISD board meeting. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Pearland ISD Virgil Gant Education Support Center at 1928 North Main St., Pearland.

4. Pearland Chamber of Commerce celebrates 2017 achievements

The chamber's annual gala, themed "Your Family, Your Legacy,” will include awards for Ambassador, Business, Citizen, and Member of the Year and recognition of the incoming and outgoing members of the Board of Directors. The event will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 2320 Hatfield Road.

5. Register for the Dawson Winter Dash 1-mile and 5K

The Winter Dash, a fundraiser for Dawson High School Band and the Catalyst Color Guard, will be held Jan. 27. Online registration is open in advance.
