Project Updates

1. The Texas Department of Transportation began reconstructing and widening I-45 between NASA Parkway and FM 518 earlier this year. The freeway will be widened from six to 10 lanes with three frontage road lanes on either side of the freeway.

Timeline: May 2017-December 2021

 

2. TxDOT broke ground on FM 521 improvements this month to reconstruct and widen the two-lane thoroughfare to a four-lane divided boulevard between Beltway 8 and Shadow Creek Ranch Parkway. A grade separation will elevate Shadow Creek Ranch Parkway over FM 521 at the Missouri-Pacific railroad crossings.

Completed projects

3. I-45 widening TxDOT reconstructed the mainlanes on I-45 between Beltway 8 and Bay Area Boulevard from six to 10 lanes and three frontage road lanes on either side.

4. Bay Area Boulevard reconstruction Harris County reconstructed a portion of West Bay Area Boulevard. Improvements include a new sidewalks and storm sewers. No new lanes were added.

Future Projects

5. Old Alvin Road widening The city of Pearland delayed the widening of Old Alvin Road to November. The project will widen the road to a four-lane undivided curb-and-gutter thoroughfare with improved drainage and sidewalks.
