Editor's note: The list of donation opportunities and shelters will be updated periodically.

Hurricane Harvey dropped more than 30 inches over the Greater Houston area with Friendswood being one of the hardest hit areas in southeast Houston.

Parts of Friendswood received nearly 50 inches of rain since Aug. 25, according to the National Weather Service, which is a record breaking total for a tropical storm.

Parts of Pearland have seen up to 38 inches of rain since Saturday, Aug. 26.

High water conditions across Brazoria County can be monitored here, and road conditions in Pearland can be monitored here.

Residents who need legal assistance can contact the State Bar of Texas referral service here.

Property owners who have experienced flood and windstorm damage are encouraged to file their claims before Friday, Sept. 1, to avoid changes in the state insurance law.

Local shelters are available for those who have been displaced. Donations and volunteer opportunities exist. Here's how residents can help.
