After the results of the June runoff election were canvassed by Pearland City Council, Mayor Tom Reid and council member Woody Owens were sworn into office in a special meeting on June 19.

Reid beat out contestant Quentin Wiltz to serve another three-year term as  mayor. Reid received 59.37 percent of the vote, beating out Wiltz by nearly 19 percentage points.

Woody Owens beat out Dalia Kasseb to win council seat position No. 7. Owens received 58.3 percent of the vote to Kasseb's 41.7 percent. Owens previously served on council from 2001-2013 before stepping down due to term limits. He will be the first council member to serve in position No. 7, which is a newly created council seat.

The voter turnout for the June runoff was 19.39 percent of all registered voters in the city.
