  1. Local Chinese restaurant chain Pepper Twins expects to open its fifth Greater Houston area location in Pearland in March at 9721 Broadway St., Ste. 103, Pearland. The restaurant offers Szechuan cuisine classics like General Tso’s chicken and kung pao chicken but focuses on fresh, organic ingredients and homemade recipes. The chain also offers plenty of spicy and gluten-free options on the menu.   2. Brooklyn Pizza opened in Pearland on March 17, making it the family-owned business’ fifth location. The family has deep roots in New-York style pizza, as the owner’s father ran a pizza shop in Brooklyn for 25 years. For the past 12 years, the business has kept the tradition alive in the Greater Houston area with imported ingredients, homemade sauce and thin-crust pizzas.   3. Gulf Coast seafood kitchen and bar Sam’s Boat has returned to Pearland at 3239 Silverlake Village Drive, Pearland. The restaurant officially opened on March 18 after renovating the former Joe’s Crab Shack location, which now boasts 50 televisions for viewing live sports, patio seating and a playground area for children.   4. Joe Black Barbershop moved its Houston location to Pearland on March 1 and celebrated its grand opening April 8. The shop, which has been running for 10 years, offers men’s hair replacements, manicures and pedicures as well as cuts and shaves.   5. The Stephen F. Austin Community Health Network is expanding with a new clinic opening at 2552 E. Broadway St., Ste. 102, Pearland, by the end of March or early April. The network, which has locations around Brazoria County, provides a wide range of medical services, including OB-GYN, pediatrics, geriatrics, counseling, psychiatry and dental. It accepts self-pay, private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, and also provides assistance to patients who qualify for reduced prices based on need. 281-824-1480. www.sfachn.org

The Pearland location of iCRYO plans to hold its grand opening on March 31 at 11011 Shadow Creek Parkway, Ste. 111. iCRYO offers whole body cryotherapy, localized cryotherapy and facials, compression therapy and infrared sauna.   7. The new JSC Federal Credit Union location in North Friendswood is now open. The branch, located at 307 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood. Founded in 1961 to serve employees of the Johnson Space Center, the credit union now provides financial services to over 124,000 customers and has almost 20 locations, including another in Friendswood and two in Pearland. 281-488-7070. www.jscfcu.org

  8. JJ’s Car Wash, a locally owned car wash, officially opened March 1 at 2221 W. Parkwood Ave., Friendswood. JJ’s features a 120-foot express drive-through car wash tunnel, a Buff N Dry system and free self-service vacuums.   9. Galindo Meat Market had a soft opening in Pearland on March 20 and expects a grand opening in mid-April. The market offers cuts of locally sourced meat, including short ribs, tomahawk steaks, ribeyes and lamb chops. The market also sells whole hogs and goats on request.   10. Bijou Salon Suites opened on March 16 at 3348 FM 528, Friendswood, offering suites for up to 20 health and beauty providers. The facility welcomes a range of practitioners, from barbers to massage therapists to make-up artists, and it has already rented out about a third of its spaces.
