With all polling places reporting, Daniel Stuckey and Jim Johnson have won their respective elections for positions 5 and 6, according to unofficial results from Brazoria County.

Stuckey told Community Impact on May 3 he was grateful for the voters' support.

"I am excited to serve and represent our community," he said. "I have a real passion for public education, and want to do the best I can for our teachers and students here in Pearland."

Johnson also said he is grateful for his supporters throughout his campaign.


"I want to thank all the supporters and the parents, educators and community that showed their support for my campaign," Johnson told Community Impact on May 3.

As of 7 p.m., polls began closing across Texas, and results were starting to roll in for local elections across the state.

Pearland ISD has two seats on the ballot and one race that has no challenger, which is Position 7, held by Nanette Wiemer.

Here is where things stand with the first batch of unofficial results, according to Brazoria County.

Positions 5 and 6 are on the ballot for PISD. As of 7 p.m., unofficial results from Brazoria County show the following:
  • For Position 5, Daniel Stuckey is leading Azania Salazar with 1,032 votes, or 68.39%, to 477 votes, or 31.61%.
  • For Position 6, Jim Johnson is leading Jenny Francis with 981 votes, or 64.75%, to 534 votes, or 35.25%.

In a questionnaire done by Community Impact for Position 5, Salazar said she wants to advocate for students, support teachers and increase funding for special education.

Stuckey said in the questionnaire he wants to collaborate with board members and the superintendent to enhance several aspects of the district.


In the questionnaire for Position 6, Francis, this incumbent, said she wants to advocate for the resources PISD schools need to thrive.

Johnson said he wants to ensure every student receives a top-notch education, to support educators and to strengthen parent engagement.
