Pearland ISD’s board of trustees approved two agreements at its Feb. 10 meeting related to student teaching placements in the district.
The approvals formalize partnerships with 240 Certification and the University of Houston’s College of Education, outlining terms for placing student observers, interns and student teachers on district campuses.
The details
The 240 Certification Program, previously known as Educators of Excellence, is an approved educator preparation program, or EPP, that fulfills the certification requirements set by the Texas Education Agency.
Under the agreement, the district will host student observers, interns and clinical teachers, and provide supervision by certified district educators, according to district documents.
The term of the partnership is effective through 2030.

The district also formalized a six-year partnership with the University of Houston to provide clinical teaching and observation placements within the district.
PISD will arrange placements, provide access to instructional resources and assign certified teachers to oversee student teachers during their placements, according to district documents.
All student teachers must complete background checks, receive district approval prior to campus placements and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA, as well as district policies and procedures, according to district documents.
