Communities in Schools, which already provides student support services during and after the school day, will continue serving students under the newly approved partnership.
The details
Through the partnership, students will receive academic instruction, tutoring, enrichment activities, family engagement opportunities and additional student support services, according to district documents.
The agreement also outlines responsibilities for program administration, use of district facilities, data sharing in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, transportation coordination and ongoing communication between campus leadership and CIS.
Cost to the district
The agreement funds services provided through the Texas Afterschool Centers on Education, or ACE, Cycle 13 grant, which supports afterschool and summer learning programs.
The five-year agreement runs from Aug. 1 through Aug. 31, 2031. PISD will contribute $36,000 annually, split evenly between the two campuses, for a total contract cost of $180,000.
Charleston and Lawhon elementary schools will each receive $18,000 per year over the term of the agreement.
Also of note
Communities in Schools of Southeast Harris County operates across six counties and serves 15 school districts, including Alvin ISD and Friendswood ISD, according to the company’s website.
