Alvin ISD trustees approve academic calendar for 2026-27 school year

Alvin ISD students will start school Aug. 13, following board approval for the 2026-27 academic calendar at its Jan 13 meeting.

The District Educational Improvement Committee developed the calendar through feedback from parents, staff and community members, including a survey in November on a draft version of the calendar.

The details

The school year will start with a transition day Aug. 12 for prekindergarten, kindergarten, sixth-grade and ninth-grade students. All other students will begin classes Aug. 13.

According to district documents, scheduled breaks for AISD include the following dates:

• Fall break: Oct. 12-16
• Thanksgiving break: Nov. 23-27
• Winter break: Dec. 21-Jan. 5, 2027
• Spring break: March 8-12, 2027

• Labor Day: Sept. 7
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Jan. 18, 2027
• Easter: March 26-29, 2027
• Memorial Day: May 31, 2027
• Early release: Dec. 18 and May 27, 2027

The 2027 graduation ceremonies will take place on the following dates and locations:

• Shadow Creek High School: May 24 at Freedom Field
• Iowa Colony High School: May 25 at Freedom Field
• Manvel High School: May 26 at Freedom Field
• RISE Academy: May 27 at Alvin High School Performing Arts Center
• Alvin High School: May 27 at Freedom Field
