Advanced placement and career and technology education teachers at Pearland ISD could be eligible for incentive pay after the board of trustees approved the measure at its Nov. 11 meeting.

What you need to know

The AP merit pay program is determined by:
  • Exam participation
  • Passing rates in comparison to state and global passing rates
  • Individual student scores
These factors are curated into a formula, which yields a point total for each teacher.

PISD will allocate $200,000 through its general fund for the AP merit pay program.

Each teacher’s percentage of the overall point total for all qualifying teachers is the percentage they will earn out of $200,000, according to district documents.

Also of note

The CTE incentive pay program is geared toward improving student participation that leads to industry certifications.

The incentive pay is determined through a student’s certification and/or exam, which must correlate to the CTE course and derive from the Texas Education Agency’s list of state and national certifications for college and career readiness, according to district documents.

The district is allocating $50,000 through its general fund for the CTE incentive pay program.
