A principal who previously led Rodeo Palms Junior High and held an administrative position at Alvin High School will be returning to Alvin ISD as Shadow Creek High School’s newest principal.

The position was approved by the board of trustees in a special meeting June 2.

The overview

Tonya Patterson, Shadow Creek High School’s newest principal, was an assistant principal for Alvin High School for the 2016-17 school year before moving up to an associate principal for the high school from 2017-2019. Patterson was then principal for Rodeo Palms Junior High from 2019-2022, according to district documents.

From there, she moved to Victoria West High School, located in Victoria ISD, from 2022-2025, according to a social media post from the AISD.


Patterson is also a current mentor for future administrators as an adjunct professor at the University of Houston in Victoria, according to AISD's social media post.

What else?

Patterson also has teaching experience in advanced chemistry in Manvel and Alvin high schools from 2014-2016, the social media post noted.

The district added in its social media post that they are excited to welcome Patterson back to AISD.
