Unofficial results for the Harris County primary election are in for nine Republican and Democratic races.
Two of the eight Republican candidates vying for the sheriff position in Harris County are headed for a runoff July 31. Louis Guthrie earned 38,888 votes (30.79 percent). Guthrie will face Carl Pittman, who finished second with 26,969 votes (21.35 percent).
Harold Heuszel is third with 22,492 votes (17.81 percent). Ruben Monzon is fourth with 12.38 votes (17.81 percent) and Paul Day has 8,412 votes (6.66 percent) placing him fifth. Guy Clark is placed sixth with 6,697 votes (5.3 percent) and Brian Steinocher is placed seventh with 5,335 votes (4.22 percent). Daniel J. Lemkuil is last with 1,874 votes (1.48 percent).
Incumbent Adrian Garcia won the Democratic nomination with 45,497 votes (70.10 percent). Delores Ann Jones is second with 15,983 votes (24.63 percent) and Charles El Massey is third with 3,419 votes (5.27 percent).
Republican Mike Anderson unseated incumbent Pat Lykos with 87,245 votes (63.09 percent). Lykos came in second with 51,034 votes (36.91 percent). Democratic candidate Lloyd Wayne Oliver won with 29,838 votes (52.44 percent) and Democrat Zack Fertitta earned 27,061 votes (47.56 percent) for the same position.
Democrat incumbent Vince Ryan is running unopposed for the county attorney office. Republican Robert Talton has the early jump with 56,275 votes (67.25 percent) and Republican Leslie Johnson has 27,406 votes (32.75 percent) for the same position.
Talton will face off against Ryan in November for the county attorney office for a 4-year term.
