Deep tropical moisture blowing in Tuesday will produce scattered downpours. ABC13 Meteorologist Travis Herzog said the rain will be heavy at times and could produce minor street flooding during the downpours. Bayou and creek flooding is not expected, but rapid rises are possible along local waterways where accumulations exceed 3 inches.
Most neighborhoods will pick up 1-3 inches of rain over the course of the day. The area should quickly dry out Wednesday, leaving the rest of the week sunny and dry with slightly lower humidity.
A long fetch of easterly winds blowing across the Gulf will also lead to elevated tides and minor coastal flooding along some local beaches.
ABC13 will have to monitor the Gulf for tropical development over the weekend. Travis says early indications are that any rains associated with the disturbance lifting out of the Caribbean will most likely stay east of Texas. The next front is expected to reach Houston after the weekend, but Travis says it is too soon to determine how much cooler power will come along with it.
