Officials opened the Conroe/North Montgomery County Recycle Center in early August. The facility functions as the only recycling facility in north Montgomery County.
Local residents can drop off glass from food and beverage containers, rigid plastic containers, paper, cans and cardboard at the facility for recycling.
Montgomery County Precinct 1 partnered with the city of Conroe to fund the cost of employees and of disposing materials. Construction of the facility itself was funded by a $380,000 grant from the Houston-Galveston Area Council, Precinct 1 Commissioner Mike Meador said.
“There is nothing like this on the north side of the county,” Meador said. “[Precinct 1 is] paying for two staff members, and the city is paying to dispose of the material.”
The facility is open Tuesday to Saturday and is a free service for Montgomery County residents.
