COM-2017-01-T-1-L1 FM 1097 maintenance

The Texas Department of Transportation will overlay FM 1097 with new asphalt between Bethel Road and Hwy. 149 in Montgomery. The project will also add shoulders on each side of the highway.

COM-2017-01-T-1-L2FM 1488 overpass

Work on a project to widen FM 1488 from two to four lanes from FM 149 to just past Community Road is ongoing. The project also includes construction of a railroad overpass on FM 1488 near the FM 149 intersection over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, making it possible for commuters to cross the railroad tracks without interruption. Construction on the project has reached 50 percent completion.

Timeline: December 2015-fourth quarter 2017 Cost: $27.6 million

COM-2017-01-T-1-L3FM 149 improvements

TxDOT will complete a mobility improvement project on Hwy. 149 in 2017. Construction crews will add a center left-turn lane to alleviate traffic congestion at the intersection with Hwy. 105. The agency will also overlay the roadway with new asphalt between FM 1097 and Hwy. 105 in Montgomery. Funding for the project is split between 80 percent federal funding and 20 percent local funding.

COM-2017-01-T-1-L4FM 3083 railroad overpass

The TxDOT is undertaking a project that will widen FM 3083 from two to four lanes and build a bridge over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks east of Hwy. 75. The agency has already widened FM 3083 from I-45 to the starting location of the overpass bridge. The project has reached 22 percent completion and is expected to take about two years to finish.

Timeline: July 2016-summer 2018 Cost: $13.1 million

COM-2017-01-T-1-L5Hwy. 105 beautification project

The city of Conroe started construction Oct. 10 on a Hwy. 105 improvement project. The project will add a raised median throughout the roadway from I-45 to Frazier Street. Crews will also replace the wire traffic signals with mast arm traffic signals. Additionally, the project includes construction of new sidewalks along the roadway and a retention pond at the southeast I-45 intersection.

Timeline: Oct. 4-first quarter 2018 Cost: $3.4 million

COM-2017-01-T-1-L6Longmire Road expansion

Construction crews will expand Longmire Road from two to four lanes between League Line Road and FM 3083 in Conroe. The $11.34 million expansion will also include a continuous left-turn lane. The project is intended to help alleviate congestion caused by incoming residential developments in the area.

COM-2017-01-T-1-L7M.P. Clark Road construction

Crews will break ground on M.P. Clark Road this year. The road will connect FM 830 and League Line Road on the west side of I-45. The road is expected to accommodate the area’s growing population as well as traffic from a new Willis ISD elementary school that will break ground in 2017.

COM-2017-01-T-1-L8West Side Loop construction

Work continues on a new roadway that will connect FM 1097 to Old Montgomery Road near I-45 in Willis. Crews will also install a traffic signal at the new FM 1097 intersection. The roadway makes it possible for TxDOT to convert the I-45 southbound feeder road at the FM 1097 intersection into a one-way road. Willis City Council voted to name the roadway the West Side Loop during its Oct. 18 meeting.

Timeline: April 2016-first quarter 2017 Cost: $1.2 million
