Transportation Updates


1. Cypress N. Houston/Louedd Road


Harris County Precinct 4 is in the study phase on a project that could widen and extend Cypress N. Houston Road as a four-lane concrete pavement section between Jones Road and FM 1960.



2. Telge Road


A five segment Telge Road widening project by Harris County Precinct 4 will expand the road to four concrete lanes between south of Little Cypress Creek in Cypress and FM 2920 in Tomball. Construction could start in 2017.



3. Greenhouse Road


Caldwell Companies is underway on a $10 million project that will connect the existing Greenhouse Road to the future Mound Road as a two-lane half boulevard. The project was originally slated to be completed in spring 2017.



4. Hwy. 290 Project G


The Texas Department of Transportation finished up the installation of quiet pavement in late November on the new Hwy. 290 mainlanes between West Little York Road and FM 529. Overall work on Project G, which entails widening the highway from three to five mainlanes, is roughly 85 percent complete and should be finished by the end of 2016. The full Hwy. 290 project involves widening the highway to varying widths of three to six mainlanes from Loop 610 to FM 2920.

5. Grant Road widening


Harris County precincts 3 and 4 are working on two separate projects that will result in the widening of Grant Road between Spring Cypress Road and Lakewood Forest Drive in Cypress. Precinct 3 will widen the road from a two-lane asphalt roadway to a four-lane concrete boulevard between Lakewood Forest Drive to Old Kluge Road. Precinct 4 will widen Grant Road to a four-lane concrete boulevard from Old Kluge to Spring Cypress roads in Houston. Precinct 4 will also install a new traffic signal at Grant Road and Rosewood Glen Drive. Precinct 4 awarded a 720-day construction contract to Angel Brothers enterprises on Oct. 11, and construction on the Precinct 3 piece is expected to begin in early 2017.

6. Louetta Road extension


Harris County Precinct 4 is working to extend Louetta Road as a four-lane concrete boulevard from Blanco Trails Lane to Telge Road in Cypress. The project, which was awarded to Unitas Construction in August, also includes a new traffic signal at Louetta and Telge roads. Officials said they hope to have construction completed in the first quarter of 2017.

7. Huffmeister Road extension


Harris County Precinct 4 has completed the study phase and entered the design phase of a Huffmeister Road project that would extend the roadway from where it ends at Hwy. 6 to West Road in Houston. The road would be extended as a four-lane concrete pavement section. Officials said they hope to send the project out for bid in 2018.

8. Cypress Rosehill Road widening


Construction started in July on a Harris County project to widen Cypress Rosehill Road from two to four lanes in Cypress. The work, which is being done from Lake Cypress Hill Drive to the Grand Parkway, will be ongoing for the next year, officials said.
