Monica Russo leads the race for Pearland City Council Position 6 by 15 votes, according to early voting numbers. Russo garnered 686 votes, or 33.7 percent, and Trent Perez followed with 671 tallies.

Adrienne Bell trails with 450 votes, or 22.1 percent, and Terry Gray earned 228 early votes, or 11.2 percent.

Pearland approved the additional council position in 2014 and will add a seventh seat in 2017, city officials said.

If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of votes, the individuals with the two highest totals will face each other in a runoff election in June.

Russo has lived in Pearland for more than 10 years and plans to address the city's growth, safety, infrastructure and fiscal management if elected. Russo is a media specialist.

Perez, who also ran last year, said he would target traffic, debt, road maintenance, public safety and flooding. Perez is a business owner and civil engineer.

Elementary school teacher Bell, who ran for council in May 2015 as well, said if elected she would try to maintain Pearland's high quality of life.

Gray, a retired Realtor and former Pearland City Council member, has lived in the city for 59 years. His top priorities are managing debt, retirement funding, traffic and infrastructure.
