Klein ISD is accepting donations to help those affected by the floods. Donations can be brought to the Klein Multipurpose Center at 7500 FM 2920.

Judy Rimato, associate superintendent for communications for Klein ISD, initiated the effort to offer any needed items for those displaced from the recent flooding. Items are being collected today, April 20, until 6 p.m. and on Thu.-Sat. from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Those items include:

  • Diapers-all sizes

  • Wipes

  • Unopened/unexpired Formula

  • New socks

  • New underwear

  • Gently used clothing, such as shorts, T-shirts, jeans, khakis, solid color polo shirts, shoes—especially tennis shoes—and toiletries of any kind

  • Cleaning and laundry products

  • Clean bedding, such as sheets and comforters

  • Backpacks

  • Bottled water

  • Hand sanitizer

  • Dog food

  • Bags and boxes for families to carry out their items

  • Furniture in good condition, such as tables, chairs, beds and dressers

No food items are being accepted at the Multipurpose center. Food items will be accepted at Northwest Assistance Ministries, located at 15555 Kuykendahl Road, Ste. 255, Houston.

Cindy Doyle, director of community relations and the Education Foundation, and Beth Gilleland, Klein ISD student services officer-guidance and counseling, worked out the logistics to make the drive happen, said Rimato.

“We realize that a lot of Klein ISD families have been displaced and lost a lot of their belongings,” said Judy Rimato, associate superintendent for communications for Klein ISD. “We wanted the community to have a place where they can donate items. We love our community, and we want to take care of our own.”

Flood victims in Klein ISD can email [email protected] to receive assistance with donated items if they cannot come to the Klein Multipurpose Center. Victims can also call the counselor at the nearest Klein school once the district is back in session.
