The new $7.5 million Katy City Hall is scheduled to open June 10 after a nearly two-month delay, city officials said.
Katy City Administrator Byron Hebert said a public celebration is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 10 with a guest speaker, light refreshments and tours of the building.
The three-story, 33,000-square-foot building was originally scheduled to open April 22.
However, a problem in acquiring fireproof doors and roofing materials pushed the target date back just under two months.
The materials were initially unavailable but everything is now on target for the June opening, Herbert said.
“The shipping [of materials] is fine,” he said. “We took a few extra weeks to make sure it is finished.”
