Scott Smith brought years of seafood industry experience with him when he took over Tony’s Seafood Shack shortly after the restaurant opened in May.

“I used to run restaurants from 1988 to 1994 in New York,” Smith said. “I have traveled all over the world experiencing food with short stints in England to experience their fish fry as well as to Tokyo to visit the famous tuna market.”

He has since completely remodeled the eatery’s interior, revamped the menu and added new $7.99 lunch specials. Some menu highlights include fresh fish plates, chowder, fish tacos, soups, salads, sandwiches and the restaurant’s signature lobster rolls.

Another change to the restaurant is Smith’s introduction of a new menu item every week as a part of Tony’s Test Kitchen. Customers can give feedback and recommendations to help influence what items are offered again and whether they become permanent menu items.

Since taking over ownership, the restaurant has seen a steady uptick in business with a booming December, Smith said, adding that he and his family enjoy living in and running a business in Montgomery.

“My family and I moved here three years ago, and we love the community, the opportunity and the lake culture,” he said.
