1. Honea Egypt Road expansion
Construction on Honea Egypt Road from FM 1488 to Ranch Lake Drive continues as crews work to expand the thoroughfare from two to four lanes. The length of the project will include a continuous left-turn lane in a similar fashion as already expanded segments of the roadway to the north of the project near the Woodforest community. 2. Hwy. 105 expansion
The Texas Department of Transportation will begin a Hwy. 105 reconstruction and widening project from 10th Street in Conroe to Loop 105 in Liberty County. The project widens the highway from primarily a two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with a median. It also includes construction of a curb and gutter through about 90 percent of the project boundaries. Nearly 48 acres of additional right of way needs to be acquired and could result in residential and commercial displacements. Timeline: TBD Cost: $160 million Funding source: TxDOT
3. FM 1097 overlay
Significant progress has been made on a 2-inch overlay on FM 1097 from I-45 to FM 149. The project is 92 percent complete, and TxDOT crews are working to finalize the project by the end of the year. Timeline: May-fourth quarter 2015 Cost: $4.1 million Funding sources: TxDOT
4. I-45 HOV lanes
Road construction crews began work on high occupancy vehicle lanes on I-45 from South Loop 336 in Montgomery County to FM 1960 in Harris County in October. The project will install a managed lane in each direction similar to those found on I-10 in Houston. The project is about 25 percent complete. 5. League Line Road extension
Construction of a 2.5-mile extension to League Line Road began in early March. The project extends the road from its terminus at Hwy. 75 past FM 1484, creating a direct route from I-45 through the Conroe Park North industrial park to Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport. Crews have installed column caps and beams necessary to begin construction of a bridge over the railroad tracks. The next construction phase includes stabilization of concrete and pavement. The city of Conroe completed work on an expansion of Crighton Road between FM 1314 and I-45 on Nov. 11. The two-lane roadway is now open to traffic and includes a continuous left-turn lane, wider shoulders and underwent drainage improvements.
