Transportation updates



1. League Line Road extensionLeague line road extension


Construction of a 2.5-mile extension of League Line Road began in early March. The project extends the road from its terminus at Hwy. 75 past FM 1484, creating a direct route from I-45 through the Conroe Park North industrial park to Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport. There has been significant progress on the project, and crews have begun construction of a bridge that will go over the railroad tracks.

2. I-45 HOV lane construction


Texas Department of Transportation crews started construction in October on high-occupancy vehicle lanes on I-45 from South Loop 336 in Montgomery County to FM 1960 in Harris County. The project will install an HOV lane in each direction similar to those found on I-10
in Houston. The project is expected to take six months from the start of construction.


Timeline: Oct. 21-April
Cost: $2.6 million

3. Hwy. 105 improvement


The city of Conroe will start construction on a Hwy. 105 improvement project that will add a raised median throughout the roadway from I-45 to Frazier Street. The median will limit left turns to designated intersections for transit safety purposes. Construction of 5-foot-wide sidewalks on each side of the roadway is also included in the project.

4. FM 149 improvement


TxDOT is preparing to undertake a 13-month resurface and repair project on 10 miles of FM 149 between FM 1791 and FM 1097. The project will also add a 5-foot-wide shoulder throughout that length of roadway and is intended to improve traffic safety throughout the area—which has seen 68 car accidents in the past three years. The project was awarded to Smith and Co., a highway construction firm.

5. Drennan Road extensionDrennan road extension


A mobility project will extend Drennan Road from its current terminus at Plantation Drive to Hwy. 75. The roadway will continue the existing five-lane roadway to provide greater access to and from the future Conroe Police Department headquarters. Road construction crews are installing water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer lines along the roadway.

6.  Crighton Road expansion


The city of Conroe has completed work on the first of two phases of the Crighton Road expansion project. Phase 2 spans from Kharbat Road to FM 1341 and started in October. Once complete the roadway will include a continuous left turn lane.
