Firethorne reached an all-time high of 368 new home sales in 2014, bringing the Katy/Fulshear community two-thirds of the way to its build-out, officials said.

To date, Firethorne has sold 2,359 new homes and closed on 2,258. When completed, the 1,400-acre master-planned community will feature 3,400 homes, with 150 acres devoted to parks and recreational amenities.

"We sold more than a home a day, on average, which was record-breaking for us," said Community General Manager Wayne Meyer.

Meyer attributes the quick sale of homes in the community to its amenities, proximity to schools within the Katy Independent School District and easy access to I-10 and the energy corridor.

"We look forward to another outstanding year in 2015," Meyer said.

According to Meyer, Realtors and relocation specialists accounted for 83.2 percent of Firethorne's new home sales in 2014.

The community recently opened six new sections and will open a new model home park for its 70-foot lots in the spring with homes by builders Ashton Woods Homes, Coventry Homes, Highland Homes, Perry Homes and Ravenna Homes.
