Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q will open its fifth Greater Houston area location Dec. 11 in Richmond.

The location for the newest Rudy's—at 20500 Hwy. 59—was built to provide convenient access to residents in Richmond, Sugar Land and surrounding communities.

"We are excited to introduce real Texas barbecue to the residents of Richmond, Sugar Land and surrounding neighborhoods just in time for Christmas," said Pete Bassett, vice president of operations at Rudy's Bar-B-Q. "We are grateful for their warm welcome and continued support for Rudy's."

On Dec. 11, the restaurant is giving the first 100 guests a $20 gift card to the restaurant that can be used at any location. Throughout opening day the restaurant will also be giving away free merchandise, such as T-shirts, hats and other Rudy's products to guests.

The restaurant chain first opened in 1989 and specializes in Texas barbecue. Rudy's uses a dry spice to marinate its meats and then smokes the meat in a wood-fired pit using oak wood.

The Richmond location is open from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Breakfast tacos are also served daily from 7–10:30 a.m.

"Richmond is very excited about Rudy's Bar-B-Q opening its newest location in our community," Richmond City Manager Terri Vela said. "Rudy's provides great barbecue with generous portions at affordable prices for our residents as well as visitors traveling through the city. Richmond anticipates the addition of Rudy's is just the beginning of numerous businesses coming to the best kept secret in Fort Bend County."
