The San Jacinto River Authority continues to finalize water line installation in The Woodlands as it works to deliver Lake Conroe surface water to some Montgomery County residents by summer 2015.

As pipeline installation wraps up throughout The Woodlands, motorists may still come across rolling road closures along Research Forest Drive and Grogan's Mill Road, north of South Millbend Drive, through November as crews test and flush the installed water lines.

"We know that has been a challenge in the Research Forest at Gosling Road and Research Forest at Shadowbend [Drive] areas, but we are working as fast as we can to get those areas complete," SJRA spokeswoman Ronda Trow said.

Lines to the south of South Millbend Drive are expected to be installed and ready for testing in November.

Westridge Drive and Pruitt Road are also undergoing pipeline construction in the area, according to the SJRA.

"Right now we are just waiting on [crews] to complete some of the concrete and a couple of the intersections," Trow said. "We were hoping to do some of the [intersections] at one time, but we had to keep some driveways open because of school activity they had on a weekend."

To test the pipelines, crews flush water through the system and out of black hydrants, which resemble fire hydrants but instead serve as water supply flush valves.

"If [residents are] driving down the road and they see that we are releasing all of this water and they are wondering what that is, they have begun water line cleaning," Trow said.

In a related development, pipeline construction to the east of I-45 in Oak Ridge North is expected to be complete in March 2015.

The SJRA and the city of Oak Ridge North will host a town hall meeting on Nov. 19 at City Hall to inform Oak Ridge North residents—particularly those living near Robinson Road, and Maplewood and Oak Ridge Grove drives—about planned construction timetables and routes in the area.
