Harvest Farm to Market, a grocery store focused on organic and locally produced food, will open its second store and first Katy location at the corner of Westheimer Parkway and Greenbusch Avenue by the end of the year.

Director Inci Akpinar said the market's focus is on carrying fresh, healthy products and supporting local farmers. The chicken, eggs and beef will come from Texas farms. Harvest raises its own free-range chicken as well.

"By shopping at our store, our guests support our local farmers, protect the environment, and enjoy a healthy lifestyle," Akpinar said.

The store itself will in some ways resemble a farmer's market. Customers will be able to pick up prepared meals as well as shop at in-store stands specializing in select local products, Akpinar said.

"There's going to be ready meals, hot meal bars," she said. "Inside there will be little stores and stands for things like spices and olive oil."

Harvest Farm to Market, which will measure about 20,000 square feet, will be a part of a larger shopping center, the Shops at Saddlespur, under development by Atlas Construction.
