After opening at 24 Waterway in October, The Refuge Bar and Bistro has gained a strong following and reputation among the after-hours Town Center working crowd as well as those looking for signature crafted beers and cocktails.
"The great thing about the location here is that you get customers from all over," co-owner Mark Zientek said.
Calling The Refuge a gastropub, the Waterway bistro offers a variety of pub-style items, such as sandwiches, flatbreads, salads, and cheese and meat trays ideal for sharing.
"The bar food here is presented very well and all locally sourced," Zientek said.
The Refuge has recently capitalized on the closing of the nearby Hubbell & Hudson Market by offering craft coffee selections purchased from the Virtue Coffee Company in Tomball. Along with the coffee, Zientek said, they also offer pastries and sweets for breakfast.
The bar specializes in craft beers and cocktails, with all 12 of its taps offering Texas microbrews. Bourbons, whiskeys, scotches and classic cocktails are also popular choices among customers.
Zientek said The Refuge is establishing itself as a regular after-hours location for returning customers, filling a void in the local market for an independently owned establishment.
