The Tandoory Taco franchise has started to expand since opening its first restaurant in The Woodlands in July.
Owners Alex Nagal and Kathiravan Athimoolam opened a new location for their "Indian flavor meets the taco world" restaurant in Frisco in March, The Woodlands manager Shawn Johnson said.
The restaurant cooks its food using a Tandoor, a vertical oven often used in some Asian countries.
"A lot of the food is marinated in yogurt, and a lot of spices of course, then it is put on long kabobs and they are cooked in that Tandoori, which is a vertical clay oven," Johnson said. "The naan bread—they pound it and they put it on the wall, so that's why it comes out in an oblong shape. It gives it a good flavor; it's a good cooking method."
Business in The Woodlands has steadily increased, particularly the weekday lunch crowd composed of professionals around the area, Johnson said.
As the restaurant patrons continue to grow, Johnson said they are also able to offer catering, allow for large pick-up orders and even dabble in nearby delivery.
Meals range from $2.99 for a single taco to about $8.99 for small plate entrees and $15.99 for larger entrees.
