As officials canvass the Primary Election results, Republican and Democratic candidates begin to plan for several upcoming local and statewide races in November.
A runoff election for several races is scheduled for May 27 with early voting from May 19-23.

State Senate, District 17
Incumbent Joan Huffman won the Republican candidacy for the State Senate District 17 race by a wide margin with 85.32 percent—or 17,605 votes—in the Primary Election.
"With the primary race behind me, I will continue to address the interim committee charges tasked to the Senate, the needs of my constituents and earn your support for the general election in November," Huffman said. "I look forward to working with all of my colleagues to ensure that we do what is best for every citizen of this state."
Huffman will face off against Democratic candidate Rita Lucido and Libertarian candidate George Hardy in the Nov. 4 election.
U.S. Representative, District 22
Frank Briscoe is the Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative District 22 with 53.23 percent of 6,344 votes, according to unofficial results.
Briscoe will join the race against incumbent Pete Olson (R) and Libertarian candidate Rob Lapham for the Nov. 4 election.
