The city of Hutto announced the hire of Karen Daly as its new city manager Jan. 27. Daly is scheduled to start her new position March 3.

"I am honored to have been selected by the Hutto mayor and city council," Daly said. "The council's professionalism and commitment to make Hutto a quality community makes this a very enviable place to be city manager. I'm looking forward to getting to know the community and making Hutto our home."

Since 2007, Daly has worked as assistant city manager for the city of Sugar Land, overseeing public works, utilities, parks and recreation and engineering. Before coming to Sugar Land, Daly served as city manager of Greenville, Texas for nearly four years.

"Karen has made significant contributions to the city during the last six years, and we are a better organization because of her efforts," Sugar Land City Manager Allen Bogard said.

Hutto's interim city manager, David Mitchell, resigned Dec. 2013 after taking over for the current city manager of Missouri City, Ed Broussard, in 2011.
