MPC district ordinance update

The City Council passed a major revision to the ordinance that outlines regulations for master-planned communities in the city limits. The revised ordinance will clear the way for the new Cane Island development.

Revised ordinances, code

The city began the process of revising its municipal ordinances to eliminate conflicts, expired or duplicated ordinances. The council also passed a variety of updates to the city's building codes.

Top issues for 2014

New fire station

The fire station, with an estimated pricetag of $2.5 million will be located on Kingsland Avenue west of Pin Oak Road.

New City Hall

The council approved about $200,000 in the 2014 budget to draw up plans for a proposed new $6 million City Hall. The Social Services Building in downtown Katy, at Second Street and Avenue D is one proposed location.

Terms and compensation

The mayor receives a salary of $1,543.33 per month

Council members receive a salary of $929.62 per month

Both the mayor and council members are elected for two-year terms.
