The Magnolia City Council has appointed Patsy Williams' husband, Jonny Williams, to finish out her term on the City Council, left vacant after she died Nov. 15.
The council appointed Jonny at its monthly meeting Jan. 14 to fill the seat—City Council Position 5—until the term expires in May.
Patsy was elected to the City Council in May 1992 and served on the council since then. She served as mayor pro tem from 1994-95, and then served in that same capacity from 2001 until her death.
"She had a big impact on the community," Jonny said. "She'll be missed. I will just try to carry on what she would do. She has big shoes to fill. I will do the best I can to keep the community going in the direction it has been."
The Williams have three children, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-granchildren. The Williams owned and operated Windstar Service & Equipment and Windstar Wheels.
