Since opening in March, James Plog has focused on getting the word out about his new restaurant, JP's Grill, by working with various community and sports organizations, youth groups and churches.

"This is a kid's atmosphere, so we want to attract kids and families," Plog said.

The 1950s-style diner on Sawdust Road offers 14 hamburger options and 10 hot dog selections, as well as hand-cut french fries, milkshakes and malts. Plog has introduced "Blue Plate Specials," such as all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatballs Saturday nights.

New menu items include The Famous Chicago Dog, The Famous Chicago Italian Beef, imported Italian sausage and a meatball sandwich. Plog has installed several high-definition TVs to show sporting events.

For 2014, Plog is considering adding live music and a 1950s and 60s karaoke night. In addition, The Woodlands Classic Car Club will continue to meet at JPs Grill, he said.
