The first holiday shopping season for Daphney's Boutique proved to be a successful one, and the flow of customers into the boutique has been steady since doors opened in May.
"This was our first Christmas being open, and we had a very good turnout for the holiday season," owner Daphney Skelton said.
Shoppers at Skelton's store can find a vast array of items from women's clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry to men's hats, wallets and watches. The boutique also sells pillows, throws, benches made from antique headboards, and infant and children's clothing.
With rodeo season around the corner, Skelton has ordered a line of Western wear she will carry to coincide with the season. The store will offer rodeo wear, denim wear, boots and Western hats, she said.
"It's going to be really neat too, as we have never carried Western wear before," she said.
Once summer rolls around, Skelton will bring in a new line of clothing and footwear items that will be geared for the summer. Skelton said it is important for her to keep the clothing lines changing as the seasons change, so the store is constantly offering something relevant to the consumer.
The widening of FM 1774 is creeping up to the boutique's doorstep, and Skelton said she might see a decline in business as a result of the construction. She also said she anticipates its completion, as it should bring her shop more visibility and customers.
"We are excited for them to get that road done, so we can have a nice, new highway running through town," she said.
