The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce opened a new office in late November on the same site as the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Services District 9 complex at Telge and Tuckerton roads in Cypress.

The move to the new stand-alone facility will allow the chamber to have additional space, but also partner with the VFD in an effort to bring more awareness to both organizations and create a focus on the amenities businesses and residents can find in Cy-Fair, chamber officials said.

"We have had a relationship for some time with some members of the Volunteer Fire Department—specifically former chief Joe Davis—and we began to talk about how we could partner with each other to help one another out," chamber president Leslie Martone said. "They needed some community exposure about what they do and also wanted to be in the conversations about the future of our community in regards to Cy-Fair's building and planning."

Moving to the new location will give the Cy-Fair VFD more exposure to the business community as to what they do and give the chamber the opportunity to be in a free-standing building, Martone said.

"The chamber has a vision of bringing more awareness of what we do for the community and Cy-Fair as an area," she said. "The fire department is a huge part of the community, and it's important that the Emergency Services District and members of the fire department be a part of those efforts."

The chamber also hosted an open house reception and ribbon cutting in mid-December to welcome members to the new office.

The chamber serves more than 650 local businesses in Cy-Fair, while the Cy-Fair VFD serves 155 square miles of unincorporated northwest Harris County, including the majority of the Cy-Fair ISD boundaries.
