In preparation for its 75th anniversary, Cy-Fair ISD is seeking nominations for people or families who have significantly impacted the community and district throughout the last 75 years.

There will be 75 honorees in total. The honorees should capture the three facets of the anniversary slogan—"Our children, our schools, our community"—said Kristina Perez, director of community programs with CFISD. She said they are looking for nominees that span the entirety of the district's history, including when the Cypress and Fairbanks districts initially united.

"We're hoping to capture those names as well as some from the whole 75 years," Perez said. "There is a lot of history we're going to cover."

The honorees will be featured during the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jamboree, scheduled for Aug. 9, 2014 in the Berry Center arena. Nominations must be submitted by Dec. 30, 2013.

The Jamboree is being planned as a festive evening event with each table themed after a different decade of the school district's history, Perez said.

"It's going to be a very social event," she said. "We hope to have career & technology students create centerpieces for each table to be raffled off throughout the evening. We also plan on featuring fun facts about the history of the district."

To nominate a prospective honoree, complete and return the nomination form, accessible from the 75th Diamond Jamboree webpage. Nomination forms and other documents or information that support the nominee can be emailed to the committee at [email protected], faxed to 281-517-6840 or mailed to the Office of Community Programs at 22602 Northwest Freeway, Suite 1, Cypress, Texas 77429.

Tickets for the Diamond Jamboree will go on sale in the spring. For more information, call the Office of Community Programs at 2818078900.
