Several new restaurants are set to open in the next three to five months inside the West Eight Crossing development at the corner of Beltway 8 and West Road.
Salata, Chipotle, Potbelly and Smoothie King have leased space in the 15,000-square-foot development, which will consist of two buildings.
"The two buildings will be aligned with each other and create a central patio for several restaurant tenants in the middle," said David Meyers, director of leasing and partner with Newquest Properties.
Made Ya Smile Dentistry and a nail spa have also leased space in the upcoming development, Meyers said. The development is almost 100 percent pre-leased, with one 1,500-square-foot space left.
"It will complete our development there at that intersection," Meyers said, as Newquest also owns the neighboring LA Fitness, Chick-fil-A and Whataburger. A new hotel, La Quinta Inns and Suites, also opened at the site earlier this fall adjacent to the upcoming restaurants.
The new businesses will help fill a restaurant void in the area, which has seen a lot of office development in the last few years, Meyers said. Additionally, the site is good spacing between the larger concentration of restaurants off Hwy. 290 and in the Willowbrook area near Hwy. 249.
"You've got a lot of offices currently being developed from I-10 to Hwy. 249 off Beltway 8, and that corridor has seen a strong concentration of office space that has popped up over the last two or three years," Meyers said. "There's also a good concentration of residential development on both sides of the Beltway, so this [area] becomes a more convenient stop for a lot of people. I think people are also realizing this is an underserved market."
