Jesus and Cristina Lozano have a passion for cooking. The couple, who immigrated to the area from Mexico three decades ago, are sharing their fresh, homemade Mexican food with area residents at their Tomball restaurant, Rikissimo!
The taqueria, tucked in a strip mall off Kuykendahl, opened in November.
"Opening this was a dream come true," Jesus said. "We have always wanted to own a restaurant."
The couple makes all the food served at Rikissimo!, including the five meat choices for tacos–beef, pork, barbacoa, carnitas and chicken–which are marinated and slow-cooked for hours.
The Lozanos, who live in Tomball, keep the prices reasonable to ensure everyone can enjoy the food. Their specialty taco plate includes four tacos with a choice of meat and topped with onions and cilantro for $5.99.
"This restaurant is for the entire community," Jesus said.
One of their other specialities is a torta Mexican sandwich, made with your choice of meat, homemade refried beans, cheese, tomatoes, diced onions, fresh lettuce and sour cream on torta bread for $6.29.
The fast casual restaurant is small and clean, offering several tables for dining.
Rikissimo! remodeled recently, reopening its new store July 19 with a ribbon cutting with the Tomball Chamber of Commerce.
The word Rikissimo comes from the Spanish word riquisimo, which means very tasteful.
"It means something you taste that is so delicious your mind goes blank," Jesus said.
