After shutting down for several weeks while undergoing renovations, Premiere Cinemas in Tomball has reopened with an array of new features, including a state-of-the-art digital projection system.

"It's a complete upgrade from the old Cinema 6, which was here for 30 years," said Jennifer Mendoza, general manager of the Tomball location. "We're excited that we are able to renovate and provide a better atmosphere for the public."

Other new features include a new 165-seat auditorium theater with 3D capabilities—bringing the total screen count to seven—as well as high back rocking chairs and two new lobbies with modular seating and a video arcade. Concessions now include fresh-made cotton candy and a Dippin Dots ice cream cart. The upgraded concession area allows patrons to dress their own popcorn, hot dogs and nachos to their liking.

While the theater started screening movies on Dec. 14, it will celebrate its reopening with an official Tomball Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting Dec. 20. at 5:30 p.m. Three movies will be screened for free for the public that evening: "Alvin" at 8:15 p.m., "The Help" at 9:15 p.m. and "The Dark Knight Rises" at 9:30 p.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Other movies, including "Monsters, Inc." and "The Hobbit," will still be available for paid viewing. Showtimes can be found online at www.pccmovies.com.

Standard ticket prices are $7 for adults after 6 p.m. and $5 for shows before 6 p.m. Tickets for children between ages 3 and 12, as well as seniors over 60, are always $5. An additional $2 is charged for digital 3D features shown on the new 3D screen.
