The Woodlands will host a weekend-long Labor Day celebration, complete with live music, two fireworks shows and street performers.

Celebrate Labor Day will take place at Waterway Square, located at 31 Waterway Square Place, beginning Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. with live music by classic rock and variety band Mike Maker. Alternative and classic rock band Alter Ego will take the stage at 7:40 p.m., followed by a fireworks show at about 9 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 2 will see more live music, beginning at 6 p.m. with 1980s cover band KAOS, followed by another 80s group, The Spicolis, from 7:40 to 9 p.m. The weekend's second fireworks show will also begin at 9 p.m.

"This is a fairly new event, and it is the second year that we have produced it," said Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau. "[The Celebrate Labor Day event] was successful last year. We want to make sure it's a quality, well-planned and safe event. We want people to have a good experience."

The event is free to attend and parking is available at the Waterway Square Parking Garage and 24 Waterway Parking Garage. Limited free surface parking is available in the area.
